A Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellite payload is the collection of mission-specific equipment carried by a satellite operating in geostationary orbit, approximately 35,786 km (22,236 miles) above Earth's equator. The payload performs the satellite's primary mission, such as communications, weather observation, navigation augmentation, or scientific measurements.

What Is a GEO Satellite?

A satellite in geostationary orbit:

  • Circles Earth once every 24 hours.

  • Appears stationary relative to a fixed point on Earth's surface.

  • Provides continuous coverage of the same geographic region.

Pour Point Depressants

Pour point depressants (PPDs) are chemical additives used in petroleum products to improve their ability to flow at low temperatures. They work by modifying the formation and growth of wax crystals, helping oils remain pumpable in cold conditions.

What Is the Pour Point?

The pour point is the lowest temperature at which an oil will still flow under standardized test conditions. As temperatures drop, wax naturally present in many petroleum oils begins to crystallize, which can make the oil too thick to flow.

PPDs lower the pour point, allowing the fluid to remain usable at lower temperatures.
